Springfield-Greene County's emergency management program received national accreditation from the Emergency Management Accreditation Program (EMAP) in April, 2012. EMAP is an independent & voluntary evaluation of state and local emergency management programs based on national best practices. At the time of our accreditation, Springfield-Greene County was one of only 13 local programs in the nation to be accredited by EMAP.
A prepared community is a resilient community. Our robust programs provide preparedness training to individuals, businesses and organizations so that when disaster strikes, response is swift and effective.
Activated during large-scale events, the EOC is a central location for senior officials from city, county, state and federal agencies to coordinate response efforts, make decisions and disseminate information. With more than 70 workstations to support operations for dozens of agencies, the EOC also serves as a clearinghouse for sharing information during emergencies.
